A Child Of The Universe. Nov 10, 2007. #17. Transmissions & Drivelines FJR1300 1st, ST1300 2nd, Concours 14 3rd. That surprises me. USUALLY the Honda has a smoother (easier, quieter) transmission and drive train. The results are not in line with the other reports of a "smooth" transmission on the C-14.

It still ends up cheaper, brand new, than the equivalent ST or FJR, but factoring in the 1000 v-twin vs. a 1300 v-4 or a 1300 inline 4and the abs.and the chain vs. shaft drive (personal preference: shaft)lack of a centerstand the vstrom isn't as bargain-basement as I'd like. Ultimately I'm probably getting what's cheap out of the

The C 14 has better straight line performance but I do not have the skills to handle what the FJR offers. The FJR also runs on regular unleaded and the C 14 requires premium. I am 67, 5' 9' and weight 168 with a 32" inseam. I always wear boots with about 1 1/2 inch heals so I can get flat footed at stops.

The FZ uses a previous generation 20 valve R1 engine. The crankshaft is heavier in the FZ and the cam profiles are different, supposedly for better mid-range but the FZ is still pretty gutless below 7,500rpm. Cpt Slash, if you are ever in Sakon Nakhon stop by for a chip butty, mushy peas and cup a char. Regards.
The sportier approach and easier maneuverability made the bike an instant hit and, performance-wise, the original boasted the identical amount of power as the new, 5 th generation version, of 144.2 bhp. Although 15 years after the FJR1300 was unveiled, the bike has gained around 10% torque from the mighty, shaft-driven, 1298cc, 4-cylinder engine.
